Welcome to Art Workshops in English. It’s not a catchy name, but it describes what we do. It’s a friendly art studio for kids, teens and adults, “beginners”, “dabblers”, “serious hobby artists”, “real artists” – in fact anyone who wants the time, space, materials and support to help them nurture their creativity.
Picasso said that every child is an artist. Unfortunately most of us become discouraged for one reason or another as we grow up, and we buy into the myth that making art requires talent that is only granted to a few special people. In fact, everyone can make art given half a chance, and everyone benefits from discovering their innate creativity. It’s good for expanding the mind and relaxing the soul. What’s more, you’ll start to see the world as you haven’t really seen it before once you start to mix colours and draw lines, shapes and forms.
Take the plunge! Come and play for a few hours and see how it goes. You don’t have to buy any materials, and no-one will tell you you’re wasting paint or paper. You’re allowed to chat, drink coffee (or whatever you like), copy, trace, ask for help, experiment, throw it all away and start again.
The art studio in Egg is closing
There’s no easy way to say it, but after nearly 13 years, the studio in Egg will close at the end of March 2019 and Ira and Bridget are going on to open new ventures in their respective home towns. We are sad to be saying goodbye to the many lovely people who have supported us over the years, and so sorry to disappoint our regular students, but hope to keep in touch and to see you in Baden and Flims.
Classes will continue as usual until the end of March, so we hope you’ll make the most of the studio in the meantime, and if you have an abonnement, be sure to use it up before we close.
Our new ventures
Ira is excited to be opening a studio gallery in Baden’s old town, where she will create and exhibit her own work and the work of four to six guest artists each year. More information about the opening will be available very soon.Bridget plans to do something similar in the mountain resort town of Flims, with the addition of workshops for holiday guests and locals and a shop selling a small range of art materials and hand-made items. She hopes to launch in time for the start of the summer season in 2019.Both of us are looking forward to working closer to home and becoming more deeply involved in our local communities.
