This is a 14-session course (ie 14 x 3 hours) that takes place on Monday mornings from 10.00 – 13.00, starting on September 24 2018 and finishing on February 4 2019.
The course covers the basics of making 2-dimensional art, and a wide range of techniques. It is suitable both for total beginners and for people who would like to try new mediums, to review the elements and principles of art and composition and to learn how to create their own original artwork.
The artwork created during this course is small-scale (so that we can include a lot of variety), and while some of it is purely experimental, some will also be worth framing. A sketchbook/scrapbook/art journal, is provided, and printed notes are issued every week, forming a very useful reference for your future years as an independent artist.
The course covers: the elements of art and principles of design, how to come up with good compositions, where to find ideas and inspiration, colour theory, paint mixing, creating textures, and basic drawing skills, and we work with pencil, charcoal and graphite, markers and inks, collage, watercolour and acrylics, all the different kinds of pastels, coloured pencils, gouache, and some printmaking as well.
Places are limited, so please get in touch if you are interested in joining, and please plan on attending the whole course. The course will not run with fewer than 4 people, and the maximum number is 7.
The total cost for the 14-session course is CHF 980, and the course fees may be paid in two instalments: CHF 700 by September 24 and the balance of 280 by December 4. There is no refund for missed classes, but it is possible to make up missed classes on Monday afternoons or Tuesday evenings at the Open Studio sessions.
The dates and curriculum can be found here.
