Nov 27, Dec 4 & Dec 11: 3-session project in a medium of your choice. This is a chance to plan and create a more ambitious work of art. In advance of the class (discuss with me) choose your own subject (could be from a photo, a work of art you’d like to copy, a still life you want to set up etc.), decide on your medium, and then bring a suitable canvas if you want to use one. You have three sessions to complete your project (with as much help as you need). When your work is finished we’ll discuss varnishing and framing options.
January 15 & January 22: Relief Printmaking. A two-session course in which you can try different techniques, with printing plates made of polystyrene, rubber, lino, wood or cardboard/foam collage. You can also try multi-coloured reduction prints, puzzle prints and chine collé (including collaged papers or foil in the printing process).
January 29: Drypoint Etching. Etch a design into a plastic printing plate using a sharp tool, then colour the plate in different ways using inks, crayons or markers and use the press to make a series of unique prints.
